Service times, directions, and what to expect

on your first visit to Osceola United Methodist Church

Getting to know each other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at OUMC a great one!

Service Times

OUMC meets every weekend on Sundays at 431 N. Beech Road at 10:00 am in Osceola, IN.

What can I expect?

How Long Is An Osceola United Methodist Church Service?

In total, an OUMC service is about 60 minutes in length. We pride ourselves in a multi-media worship experience, so we might use drama or videos to help us communicate the pastor’s message. Also, during the beginning of each service, the pastor will ask you to greet someone around you … we are a relatively small church and we all know each other, so feel free to shake hands with those around you … and there’s even hand sanitizer located in the pew pockets.

What’s the Culture Like at Osceola United Methodist Church?

Sunday’s at OUMC are exciting, casual, and relaxed. When you enter into either door, you will find a church full of friendly folks. If you enter the fellowship hall between the hour of our Sunday school classes, feel free to enjoy the coffee and treats, but mostly there will be no one to greet you, sorry. Any other time, the fellowship hall will be filled with friendly folks. If you decide to skip coffee and go directly into the Sanctuary, you will find ushers passing out our Sunday bulletin prior to entering worship. Take a bulletin and sit anywhere you’d like.

Read the Bulletin

As you will read in the bulletin (that you took from the usher), you will find our order of worship, a weekly calendar, several announcements on what’s going on at OUMC, plus a welcome card. The welcome card is a registration card for those who attend regularly and an information gathering card for first timers. We’d love you to fill out the card with your contact information on it. Pastor Leroy Wise will then give you a call just to say, “Thanks for visiting!” (Don’t be afraid, he is a very sweet person!) So, back to the bulletin, it’s usually filled to the brim with information because we are a very active church. We don’t expect you to memorize all the fun going on here, so stuff this in your purse, coat pocket, or simply take it with you to learn more about our church. Just remember to not leave it on the floor in the car. But, if you do, you can always come back here to our website to find what you might be looking for.

Pass the Plate

There’s always an offering, too. But since it’s your first time at OUMC, you’re exempt. But, this will be the place to drop your welcome card, so as the plate is pass down the pew, drop your welcome card into it.

Shake Hands with the Pastor

When the service is over, the pastor positions himself outside the Sanctuary doors to great everyone. Long time members use some sneaky tricks to get past the pastor, but these are far too complex to describe here. So, just get in the line, sometimes it moves fast, sometimes slow, but just relax, shake his hand and enjoy the rest of your day.

What About My Kids?

We believe that kids should have a blast at church every single week – and at OUMC, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Children’s ministry is offered at every OUMC service for kids ages infant through Grade 8.
